Maybe Baby

"Green Chandelier" by Michelle Kaufmann

When I start hanging baby jars from trees, someone shoot me...

(actually, I like this...it's bohemian....and what are those wires?  Spun gold?  Rope?)

Day of the Dead

***

One of the most fascinating artistic works inside the Sedlec Ossuary is the big chandelier of bones that lies in the center of the Church of Bones. The immense chandelier contains at least one of every human bone.

Cinematic

Julie Conway

I think this is less a chandelier and more a prop from a science fiction movie, no?  Silicon-based creatures oozing their mind-altering juices from the ventilation ducts....

I'm Sir Galahad, I'll be your server tonight....

This does not seem very conducive to study and quiet reflection, to me.
This seems very "a big thing is about to fall on my head and I'm scared....and it's way bright, and I'm trippin'..."

Stick this spoon...

So pretty!

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (times infinity)

Lesson: Just because you thought of something doesn't mean you must make it...and display it!!

I want to say to y'all that it's getting harder and harder to find nice looking chandeliers (!)

Mulled Cider

If you've ever wondered what this blogger might like to have in her home (or one of her homes) [no, not so much]....this is definitely a contender....[we said we didn't care!] of course, it is understood that this is the chandelier I covet, seeing that Coco Chanel's is unavailable for theft or purchase [um..what part of didn't care did you NOT understand??]

Nice for a breakfast nook.  White linen napkins, an omelet with spinach and feta, the papillon puppies playing at my feet....

Libeskind LED

It is Yom Kippur.  Here is a chandelier by an important Jewish designer, Daniel Libeskind.

Why does it matter that he is Jewish?  It does not.  For all I know he could be an atheist.  But I think Yom Kippur is about survival, and survival includes not just physical/biological survival, but cultural--that one's offspring survive to create anew--whether that be art, furnishings, poetry, or other people.
It looks exactly like and no different than his buildings, his furniture.
I think that is interesting and essay-worthy.

P to the S--was this ever made or installed, except in Second Life????

Jumping the Shark (NSFW)....

Today, "Chandelirium"  "Jumps the Shark"

NSFW = Not Safe For Work...not for kids....(that's why I posted it on a Saturday...)

Do not look if you have delicate sensibilities:

Um---all warnings apply....

...look...if this offends you, you are in the wrong century....click here for a ticket back to 1821.

image from DOES IT MATTER?!?!

Sigh........this is what you get when you let 14 year old boys grow up without exposure to art, literature, music, beauty, women, or anything other than themselves, video games, and their own masturbatory fantasies.

That being said, it's not entirely hideous, and a lot better looking than the real thing....which in a way, makes it the most representative of all things called "Art."

Actually, I could see myself writing a Phd thesis on this.

Gimme a Break

This is not a chandelier; this is a bunch of crates. You can't just call anything anything. You can't just look at a cloud and call it a dolphin. Things have names. Names are not meaningless. If names are meaningless, than thought, logic, language itself, are meaningless.

An apple is a ghost.

A chair is a symphony.

A stereo is a test tube.

A dog is a catalytic converter.

...oh...

....it is a chandelier....
