Westchester County, NY

My friends' dining room

***

Although not without controversy, this chandelier, in my opinion, is perfect in every way. The perfect size, style, shape, drape, weight for the space. A bit unexpected, but a jewel. This is the correct use of a chandelier--to point out the true elegance of a space, to punctuate. This fixture calls to mind the parlor of some much aggrieved Jane Austen characters--down and out sisters, cast out of their palatial estate, who must now make do with a stunningly beautiful house in the country and only four servants between them. How will they survive? The chandelier was a gift from a dowager aunt, a Countess, who took pity on their plight....in reality, the children eat their Cheerios and do math homework beneath the crystal pendants....
